בית הכנסת המפואר, שהיה סמל לחיים היהודיים הגדולים והפעילים של פראג 2, נפגע בהפצצת פראג בשנת 1945 ולאחר מכן נהרס בשנת 1951. מאז חורבנו, ובמשך עשרות שנים, לא פעל בשכונה בית כנסת ומרכז יהודי דתי פעיל באותה רוח של תפילה, שבת, כשרות וחיי קהילה.
